July 20 will be the fortieth anniversary of the first moon landing, and I have an interview with Buzz Aldrin in Tuesday’s Boston Globe as the “G Force” interview of the day. (View the clip as a JPG here.) The interview focuses on his new memoir, “Magnificent Desolation,” which hit bookshelves on June 23.

I have to admit, I’ve been enthralled with this anniversary, and there’s been a lot of coverage about it. Among the many great stories and interviews out there, check out this piece by A.O. Scott about the different interpretations of the meaning of the moon landing, as well as this thorough, historical piece from the Times. There’s also this interview with Aldrin in the Wall Street Journal, and I loved this long story from the U.K.’s Guardian.

Lastly, the Lens Blog, the photojournalism blog of the New York Times, has this great collection of photos of people gathering to watch the launch on July 15 and 16, 1969. The last photo is my favorite.
